Project Details
Situated in the Kangaroo Point suburb in Brisbane, QLD, this contemporary home was designed for a young growing family. The clients’ requirements were for an open plan indoor and outdoor living arrangement located at the rear of the house; and to also have a home office with its own entrance facing the street. The living areas were located around a central outdoor area. By incorporating a four meter high raked ceiling through this area, a feeling of openness and spaciousness has been achieved. The ceiling interconnects the upper and ground floor living areas, allowing the summer heat to escape the lower living areas, and creating a better living environment.
Best Construction Idea
The upper floor living area has been located to capture the bay views. Through the use of butt jointed corner windows and horizontal blades, the views have been retained whilst limiting exposure from the sun and creating a striking external feature.
