Project Details
Currently in design stages, this residence is due to start construction in March 2022. Located on acreage, the brief called for the design of a large Tuscan style residence with multiple living areas and a central dining area that could seat up to 30 people. The response to the brief was to locate the bedrooms and living areas around a central tree lined court yard, which allows light and cross flow ventilation into the central areas.
Upon passing through the entry you are greeted with an unobstructed view of the tree shaded court yard. As you pass through the hall, which encompasses the courtyard, you move into the main living and dining rooms. With its five metre high ceilings and timber stacker doors opening out to the patio and pool beyond, there is 250m² of indoor / outdoor living space. The games room has its own wet bar and bathroom, and easily accommodates a full size snooker table. The kitchen has a barrel vaulted ceiling and stone columns along with its own ‘Cantina’ - a 20m² butler’s pantry designed for the preparation and storage of food.

Best Construction Idea
The house has been zoned so that the living areas are located off to the north of the court yard, with the bedrooms located to the east in their own wing. The garages and service rooms are situated to the west. The exterior walls and the Doric columns have a traditional adobe lime wash plaster applied over masonry. Imported terracotta barrel tiles have been used on the roof along with timber finials to the soffits.
