Currently in design stages this residence is due for construction in March 2022. The client’s brief called for the design of a new house with coastal and Japanese elements that maximised the magnificent bay views across to Coochiemudlo Island. The challenge here was to work with the existing house slab and foundations. The master bedroom suite and main living areas are located on the upper floor to capture the views and bay breezes, with the additional bedrooms and a games room located on the ground level for entertaining around the pool. Through using louvres and movable screens, the exposure to the prevailing winds and morning sun can be controlled to suit the client requirements and enhance liveability. The main living has exposed timber beams which rake up with the ceiling, to the clerestory louvre windows.
Best Construction Idea
Several ponds have been incorporated into the design, one being situated on the upper floor balcony. This pond is level with the floor and spills down the outside stone column to a pond below.
